Agriculture is an essential part of India's economy and livelihood. There are several agricultural engineering schools that offer degrees in agriculture along with other technical and vocational courses. Educounselor is one such agricultural college that offers the degree program under the Faculty of Agriculture and conducts various scientific research and educational activities to promote and disseminate scientifically sound agricultural research and education.

The college has perfectly equipped laboratories to meet the requirements of academic and research activities. The institute uses the latest available technologies in research, teaching and extension to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of each task.

The Department of Agricultural Sciences offers a four-year Bachelor's degree program ( B.Sc. (Hons.)) and a two-year Master's degree program ( M.Sc. (Agriculture)).

Program outcomes : –

  • Agriculture programme is designed to prepare graduates to attain the following outcomes:
  • An ability to apply knowledge of different streams of agriculture in practice.
  • An ability to critically analyzes and solve marketing problems.
  • An ability to design a system to meet desired needs of food and nutrition.
  • An ability to devise and conduct experiments, interpret data and provide well informed conclusions.
  • An ability to understand the practical problems faced by farmers and to find a proper solution for it.

Programme Specific Outcome : -

Understanding the different types of reproductive mechanisms in flowering plants.
Identify different types of pollination that can be used for plant improvement.
Ability to apply knowledge of various methods of plant breeding in crop improvement.
Ability to apply appropriate techniques, skills, and tools necessary for plant hybridization.
Ability to deal with various types of segregating generations in plant populations.
The ability to identify male sterile and self-incompatible lines in various plant breeding populations.
An understanding of various broad hybridization methods in crop improvement.
The ability to practically apply various techniques of selfing, emasculation, and crossing in different crops.

Overview : -

After completing B.Sc. Agriculture, the candidate can be employed in various government departments such as agriculture, food, industry, banking, fertilizer and others. The candidate may also pursue higher degrees such as the Master of Science in Agriculture or a Ph.D. degree. This will enable the candidate to work in research laboratories, universities, industries, government agencies, multinational companies, etc. in research and development.
